Windsurfing: Santa Pola Alicante Wind Direction: S SE Wind Stength: 3-5bft Surf / Sea State: Tiny chop Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Weather: Max Speed: Distance Covered:
Finally, planing conditions on a Saturday! Headed up to Santa Pola in the
afternoon as 4bft onshore was predicted. Rigged 7m as it was more like 3-4
and sideshore but as predicted it swung round to full onshore (small chop)
and really wound up, so fantastic for some blasts up and down the beach. I
buzzed down to the Sata Pola Windsurf club feeling somewhat overpowered to
see Sebastian who just moved over from Germany (a Baltic Sea sailor!).
Headed back up the beach to the car suffering from overpower and ridiculous
spin-out so changed down to 5.4 which was just the ticket. By that point
the bay was really busy, half and half kiters to windsurfers. Some huge
gusts made it a tricky day though, lots of kiters getting embarrasing body
drags along the beach in various poses and one gust that brought every
single kite down! As for the temp, it is still fresh in the water (I was
the only rider in a shorty and got some odd looks) but 20ยบ outsude.
Basically a fantastic Saturday for once and a great day for my second
outing on the Carve. Someone out there had a bad day though as there was
ambulance action at around 5, hope they are ok....
